Internship Program

H.O.W. Internship/Volunteer Missions Programme

House of Wells, a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) registered in the United Kingdom (Reg no. 1133474) and in South Africa (074732 NPO) , exists to restore hope, dignity and release the potential of children and youth in Africa.

House of Wells is a God-inspired mission touching the hearts and lives of countless orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in poverty-ravaged communities, through holistic enrichment for body, mind and spirit.

The founders Richard and Kemi Oyin-Adeniji are British citizens who in 2008 set out on a great journey to raise up wells of hope across the African continent. The starting point was at its southernmost tip, in the townships of Port Elizabeth, South Africa. They moved to Port Elizabeth as Christian missionaries to pioneer this initiative of restoring hope and releasing potential of children and youth.

The House of Wells Enrichment Centres cater for children aged 4 to 19 years old, with teenagers benefiting from crucial life orientation topics which set them on the right path to a wholesome, healthy and promising future.  Our other activities include – After-School Clubs, Life skills, Reading Clubs for 4 to 7 yr olds, Bible and Prayer Classes, excursions to places of interest, music & sports activities, grocery programme and many more. Our vision is to establish programme that offer hope, practical help and skills necessary for independent and productive life, to children in severe poverty in Africa. We feed them daily, give groceries to the worst of the very poor, purchase School uniforms and stationery, pay school fees, help with their home work when they have any and teach bible lessons and life skills every day we meet.

Young People’s Mission Outreach

We believe that anyone can make a difference and you don’t always need decades of experience to deposit something meaningful in someone’s life. As parents of young adults ourselves, we strongly believe that young people have the skills, energy and personal qualities needed to effect lasting change in society.

The duration is normally 1-2 weeks between June and July.  However, we may be able to accommodate Interns at other times of the year, please contact us for more details.  Flights and other day-to-day expenses will be covered by each volunteer. We assist in arranging accommodation, at no cost, for the first 6 people. Depending on the time of year, accommodation can be very affordable. There are guest houses/self-catering accommodations with prices as little as £200 per week.

We encourage our volunteers/visitors to do some fundraising to help with their travel costs. However, apart from providing their much-needed travel expenses, this process also presents an invaluable opportunity to raise H.O.W’s profile in the community and introduce people to the work H.O.W does in Africa.

Most people visit our Enrichment Centres to give something back to the “wider community” and make a real difference to people living in the toughest circumstances, but we have found that they also get much in return. It is always a blessing and a privilege for our visitors as well as the children they came to visit. The result is usually an awakening of these young people’s passion for missions and when they go home the impact they’ve made here in South Africa will live on in the minds of the children.

Please do not hesitate to contact us, should you require further information.
