The House of Wells, a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) registered in the United Kingdom (Reg no. 1133474) and in South Africa (074732 NPO) , exists to restore hope, dignity and release the potential of children and youth in Africa.
House of Wells is a God-inspired mission touching the hearts and lives of countless orphaned, abandoned and vulnerable children in poverty-ravaged communities, through holistic enrichment for body, mind and spirit.
It is their belief that everywhere the House of Wells would be established in Africa, starting from Port Elizabeth, South Africa, all the way to the top of the continent in the port city of Alexandria in Egypt, old ruins would be rebuilt; former desolation of several generations raised and ruined cities repaired by the river of the Holy Spirit.
House of Wells operates Enrichment Centres using programmes that offer hope, practical help and skills necessary for independent and productive life, to children in severe poverty. Our Enrichment Centres cater for children aged 4 to 18 years old, with teenagers benefitting from crucial life orientation topics which set them on the right path to a wholesome, healthy and promising future. Our activities include – After-School Clubs, Reading Clubs for 4-7 yr olds, Saturday Teenagers’ Classes, Bible-based life enrichment skills, Music & Sports activities and many more. We also organise extra tuition in key subjects.
The plan is to use every platform and avenue available to reach children and the youth with the transforming power of the Holy Spirit so that they can be fit and ready, to be agents of revival and transformation in their communities.
With the initial door of hope opened to the first 7 children in September 2008, the good news spread quickly, with the ‘pioneer well’ soon overflowing its capacity. A second centre was soon opened in Kwazakhele Township, with five more to follow in other townships across Port Elizabeth, and a growing support base of 20 staff members, within the space of three years.
We teach bible lessons and feed the children every time we meet, for many it’s their only proper meal of the day. Monthly groceries, School uniforms, School shoes and stationeries are given to selected kids as funds allow.
