Quarterly Newsletter (January to March 2023)

         RESTORING HOPE, RELEASING POTENTIAL

Dear House of Wells PARTNERS, thank you for your loyal and regular support which enables us to do what we do.  The seeds that you are sowing into the lives of the children are very precious, they are falling on productive grounds and we are seeing amazing fruits in their lives. We pray that for every seed you have sown into House of Wells, may you receive a harvest “good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over”, in Jesus’ name.

QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER  –  January to March 2023

As usual, we started the year with fasting, prayer and Bible study as a team.  All House of Wells leaders across the six nations met via Zoom, to seek direction from God for the months ahead and to discuss lesson plans.

HOUSE OF WELLS GHANA has started!!  –  We give God all the glory for the establishment of H.O.W Ghana on 8th February 2023.  A big thank you to our partners – the couple who paid for Pastor Richard’s travel ticket to Accra, Ghana, the two individuals that took care of his expenses in Ghana, the partner who paid for the new Centres’ expenses for the first 2 months (the children’s meals and teaching materials) and the new partners who recently came on board to support House of Wells Ghana.  We pray that divine help and multiplied grace will be their continual experience in Jesus’ mighty name.  We are confident that the children whom God has appointed to be part of H.O.W Ghana will grow up to be God-fearing, honest leaders and men and women of integrity in Ghana. They will all be used of God to revive the continent of Africa and touch the world mightily in Jesus’ powerful name!

On the first day, 73 children attended the Centre in Ntsakina, some of these were from Muslim families.  On the 10th February our Centre in Mangolane started with 51 children, in Dominion Star School, Academic City, Haatso.

The testimonies from Ghana have been astounding particularly regarding growth, the number of children attending goes up every week. We thank God for our Centre Leaders, Pastor Raymond, who heads up our Haatso Centre, and Pastor Edem, who leads our Centre in Ntsakina.  As a team they are doing a phenomenal work of teaching the children the transforming power of the Word of God every week.

UPDATE & TESTIMONIES FROM EACH REGION
HOUSE OF WELLS ZIMBABWE
SCHOOL FEES SPONSORSHIP  Ngirozi (11 years old) and Tatenda is (10 years old) are sisters.  They have been part of HOW in Zimbabwe for the past 5 years.  The girls’ father was Zimbabwean who migrated to South Africa and met a South African woman. Unfortunately, the mother is a drug addict, and she left the children with their father when they were just few months old.  No one has seen or heard from her for 10 years.

Their father passed away shortly after moving back to Zimbabwe with the young girls.  The girls lived with their grandmother until the grandmother passed on 3 years ago.  They now live with a relative, who cannot afford to send them to School.  The SCHOOL FEES (plus costs of textbooks) for each girl is approximately $131 / £110 per year.  Total for both girls = $262 / approximately £220 per year.

HOUSE OF WELLS KENYA
SCHOOL FEES SPONSORSHIP  Two of our children – Salome and Samuel – gained admission to Secondary School in January.  However, they struggled to buy school uniforms and pay their school fees. We encouraged their parents to speak to the school to request for extension of the payment date.  We thank God that they were allowed to start at the beginning of Term without uniform and payment of fees.
However, the due date for payment has now passed, and they face being withdrawn from the school.  The school fees for each child is 4,900 ksh (£35)/Term, total for both = approximately £70/Term.  Uniforms for each child / year is 6,900 ksh / (£45) per year, uniforms for both children = approximately £90/year.  TOTAL SCHOOL FEES & UNIFORMS per year for both children = approx £300 per year.

House of Wells SOUTH AFRICA
**EXCELLENT MATRIC RESULTS – We are proud of eight of our young people in Port Elizabeth (South Africa) who passed their Matric (end of High School) exams.  Asemahle, Teslyn and Lynn’s excellent results qualify them for admission to Bachelors’ degree or Diploma at University.  The results of the remaining five students qualify them for Diploma or Higher Certificate study.  Through the generous donations of our partners, House of Wells has supported these teenagers and many others, over the years.  We thank God that all our efforts have come to fruition.

**Teenagers’ VALENTINE’s DAY Event – It was all FUN & GAMES for our teenagers in South Africa, as they marked Valentine’s Day on Saturday 18th February, by celebrating the love of God and the God of love.  There were various competitions, games and other fun activities.

**H.O.W HOLIDAY CAMP – Our 2-week Holiday Camp in Port Elizabeth (South Africa) ran from the 27th of March to 6th of April 2023. Children aged 5-13 years old enjoyed various activities like Arts & Crafts, singing competition and games.   The teenagers had workshops and life skills training including Beauty Sessions & Hair Cut training; Photography; Cake Decoration; Leadership skills; Employability and Entrepreneurial skills; Preparation for University and the process of getting scholarship.

**B.S.S.M VISIT – It was wonderful to have a Mission Team of 30 amazing leaders from BSSM (Bethel School of Supernatural Ministry, Redding, California, U.S.A) serving and ministering to our children during the first week of the HOLIDAY CAMP.  The team was led by revival group pastor, and former P.E. local, Kristy Grimmer, and her husband.  We are grateful to the team’s incredible service and for being a blessing to our children.

**CAPE TOWN House of Wells – the READING CLUB that we started in our Centre in John Parma continues to be popular with the children and praised by teachers and parents.  Arrangements are being made for our COMPUTER CLASSES to start soon.
At the suggestion of the children one afternoon, our leaders moved the program to a nearby park and the children sang praise songs from the School all the way to the park, proudly holding the H.O.W banner.  They truly made Jesus known in the Nyanga community that day, as people came out of their houses to witness the impromptu “street crusade”.

HOUSE OF WELLS UGANDA
Our year started with the good news of our primary school children receiving their results.  Mercy and Denzel did excellently well in their Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and have gained admission into secondary school.  Denzel’s parents have had challenges with paying his school fees for quite some time.   Mercy and her brother Favor Kalema had no hope of furthering their education after their parents passed away few years ago.  H.O.W has been taking care of their school requirements and fees since then. Today, Mercy is in secondary school and 16-year-old Favor will be writing his Uganda Certificate of Education Examinations (equivalent of GCSEs) later this year.

Mercy, Denzel and Kalema, and four other children in Uganda, have been able to continue their education because of the generous donations of House of Wells partners.  We pray Isaiah 58:8-11 upon these partners, in Jesus’ name.

HOUSE OF WELLS NIGERIA
We thank God for consistent growth in H.O.W Nigeria.  Currently we have between 120-140 children and teenagers attending every week.  During the teaching on BECOMING A CHRISTIAN, 9-year-old Damilola attended our Centre for the first time.  She told our leaders that she did not believe in the name of Jesus and that she found it difficult to understand Jesus’ death and resurrection.  This was explained to her in various ways, and on 3 occasions, yet she said she did not understand.

The leaders were perplexed as to how else to get through to her.  They decided to pray for her and received a confirmation that God had already touched Damilola’s heart. The next time she attended our Centre, she approached one of our leaders and said she believed everything the Bible says about Jesus and she was ready to accept Jesus as her Lord and Saviour.  Damilola has since been attending regularly, and has been bringing her 3 siblings.  She is very active during lessons and always excited to learn more about God. All glory to Jesus.

HOUSE OF WELLS MALAWI
Our Centre activities in Malawi were severely affected during February and March due to heavy rains. Cyclone Freddy destroyed so many lives, houses and crops, in a country where many families live on the produce from their farms, you can imagine the magnitude of the devastation with parents unable to feed their children.  We pray for the people that have lost loved ones, for healing and comfort and that God would heal the land and bring restoration of livelihoods.
