House of Wells Enrichment Centres
Quarterly Newsletter (July - September 2016)

A heartfelt THANK YOU to every individual, church and organisation that supports HOUSE OF WELLS.  The 3rd quarter of 2016 has been awesome, our Centres continue to grow in leaps and bounds and this has been possible because of your continuous financial and prayer support.  The number of children at our Centres has risen - we have 12 Centres in Port Elizabeth with 1220 children/youth attending, 3 Centres in Cape Town with 400 kids and 1 Centre in Zimbabwe with just under 100 children.  The Kingdom of God is advancing through the work that House of Wells is doing and we are seeing the children's lives being enriched spiritually, academically and in their behaviour.  Apart from the children (over 1600 of them) who have given their lives to Christ and being discipled daily at our Centres, their families are also being impacted with the Gospel of Christ because the children go home and share the lessons we teach them with their families, our home visits once every 3 months also give us an opportunity to witness to the families.

July to September - THE HIGHLIGHT

Schools & Community Relationship - We are very much involved in the activities going on in all the Schools we use for our Enrichment Centres, which helps to strengthen the relationship between the Schools and House of Wells.  The principal of Kleinskool Pry Sch popped in to one of our sessions twice in August to thank H.O.W for our contribution to the community and for the difference we make in the  lives of the children in his School.  Various schools are inviting us to conduct their morning Assembly.  Recently, on a Monday after we led the assembly at Habelgaan Pry Sch, we had a total of 150 kids at our Bloemendaal Centre!!

Centres - Usually on the last day of Term, we will pray for the children, encourage them to be on their best behaviour during the holidays and to stay away from bad company.  This term end, we reminded them of God's promise in 1 Cor 10:13, not only will they not be tempted beyond what they can bear but God will always provide a way out for them and strengthen them to overcome.  We reassured them that God will never leave nor forsake them during the holidays.  Afterwards, a girl told one of our Leaders that the word and prayer really touched her, and that even though she usually get very fearful during the holidays, she has no doubt now that God will keep watch over her throughout the holiday.  She lives in an area where drugs, gun and knife crimes is quite high.  In another Centre, we asked the children what they learnt at H.O.W this term, one precious little girl said "I have learnt to walk with God".   Other kids said they've learnt how to pray effectively, while some said they've been taught how to respect elderly people and obey their parents".

Lessons - The children always enjoy the practical demonstration of every topic we teach, and the fact that they get to participate even the quiet ones have started to come forward to speak.  One afternoon in September, two parents who were waiting to pick up their kids asked if they can come in and join us.  After the lesson they were so touched, so moved that one of them offered to do the closing prayer for us, thanking God for H.O.W and asking Him to bless the work we do.

HOUSE OF WELLS YOUTH Groups - Aug 9 is commemorated as Women’s Day in South Africa.  House of Wells used the opportunity to remind all our Teenagers, especially the girls of what they're worth to God.  We also spoke about the importance of  inner beauty.  In August, the discussion at all our Youth Centres focused mainly on the teenagers valuing themselves, carrying themselves with pride and dignity, never to look down on themselves and pay more attention to how wonderfully and fearfully God had created them, in His image.  Scriptures covered were Psalm 139:14, Prov 31 and 1 Tim 4:12.  A poem titled "Gold" by Kecia Eaddy was read to the teens, reminding them that there is greatness in them and that they are royalty i.e. because they are children of the King of kings that makes them princes and princesses.  At our last meeting for the term, it was wonderful to hear the teenagers speak about what they've learnt this term and how they benefit from crucial life orientation topics covered at H.O.W classes, which helps to set them on the right path to a wholesome, healthy and promising future.

Home Visits - 4 of the many homes we visited this quarter....
At Lihle and Nangamso Monco's house, two sisters who attend our Kwazhakele Centre, we were warmly welcomed by their grandmother who spoke of how House of Wells has been a blessing to her granddaughters since they started attending 3 years ago.  She prayed for us and encouraged us to keep up the good work and that God will reward us.  At another house (the Ngcangca siblings), their mother was eager to tell us of the changes and improvement she has noticed in all 4 children who attend our Centres, especially in their school work and their behaviour.  At the home of one of our teenagers, her foster mum told us how delighted she is of the person she is becoming and how her life is being enriched by God through House of Wells.  She is excelling at school, a very bright and intelligent girl. She told us that this girl was found abandoned when she was 3 days old.  She has been a foster mom to her since she was 3 months old, she is now 14.   At the Gibiselas'  home (5 children in this family attend H.O.W), their mother has been seriously ill for some time, we ministered to her, prayed for her and anointed her with oil.  We also gave her and the children a month's worth of groceries.

H.O.W children showcasing their talent in the community!  House of Wells received 2 invitations for our children to take part in song and dance ministrations in Port Elizabeth, an opportunity for the House of Wells children to showcase their talent and grow in confidence.  House of Wells Kleinskool were invited to participate in the Kleinskool Community Gospel Evening on 24th of September. Children from our Walmer Centre joined 5 other children's groups to do worship dance at the Feast of Tabernacles, held at Harvest Christian Church on the 28th of September

TKFC Visit - In September, we had the pleasure of Pastor Anthony Ashaye, Pastor Sally Ashaye and Mr Ola Bella from The Kings Family Centre, UK.  TKFC is one of the 5 UK Churches that currently partner with House of Wells.  The members of TKFC embarked on various fund-raising activities to execute a project which was themed "Project Feed 1000 children and 160 Teens".  The funds raised were sent to House of Wells to buy packs of food for all the children and Youth that attend our Centres in Port Elizabeth.  Very excited parents were standing in numbers in front of the school gates waiting for their kids to come out with the food parcels.  We received numerous thank you messages from parents, Teachers and Principals of all the Schools H.O.W operates from.  We thank the leadership of TKFC, the TKFCare Board of Trustees and the entire members of TKFC, for this awesome generosity.   May the Lord always remember their kindness and bountifully reward everyone that made it possible.  While visiting all our Centres, Pastors Ashaye noticed certain children who were in need of school shoes and arranged for House of Wells to buy these for the children.  The mother of Ngcali Naki, one of the children that received school shoes, came to House of Wells to express her appreciation.

Cape Town Co-ordinators....                              Zimbabwe Team Leaders....

  • A young girl who used to attend one of our Centres when she was in primary school came to visit.  She is now in High School and lived quite far from where any of our Centres are, hence could no longer attend H.O.W programmes.  She said she has volunteered a few times to do certain tasks at her new School, especially during morning assembly.  One day she was asked who taught her the things that she knows about the bible and why she is able to stand in front of the whole school and speak with confidence.  She said she told them it was because she attended House of Wells for a few years and learnt a lot through our programmes.  She also told us that she's never shy to speak about Jesus at her new school.   A Christ Ambassador indeed.....Halleluyah!!
  • One of our teenagers has been given provisional admission into University pending his Matric results. His letter to us reads as follows :- "Hello pastors.  I have received my results and they are very good (from the test I wrote for UCT), praise God!.  I have also been accepted to University of Johannesburg.  Wits university also said that they will contact me once they receive my final results.  Thank you pastors for all that you have done for me over the past 6 years through H.O.W.  God bless you".  We are confident that God who started this work in this young man will complete it gloriously in Jesus' name.
