         RESTORING HOPE, RELEASING POTENTIAL

Dear Partners
THANK YOU
for your continuous support and generous donations which enable us to accomplish the plan of God for the children at House of Wells. We are seeing incredible improvements in their lives spiritually and academically, and God continues to do amazing work on their behaviour.  It's such a beautiful thing to see the commitment and dedication of the children when they come to H.O.W.
We really thank God for the favour that we receive in all the Schools that we use as venues for H.O.W programmes. The relationships that we have developed with all the teachers and principals of these schools is phenomenal, and this makes the work that we do at these Schools more effective. The teachers even give reminders at morning assemblies, about attendance at our after-school classes!

Report from H.O.W in Different Nations

H.O.W  South  Africa

Update on  J.H. -  in our last quarterly report we asked for prayers for JH, the orphaned H.O.W teenager in P.E. who is HIV positive.  She was back in hospital last month with TB, the doctors said she could be there for about three months; our staff have been visiting her, praying for her constantly and taking warm clothing, food and toiletries to her.  Her grandmother was so happy and grateful, almost in tears.  H.O.W has also been assisting her grandmother with transport fares so that she could visit JH in hospital as often as she wants, before this financial assistance she was only able to visit her once a week.  We were informed by Hospital Staff that when J H got to the hospital, her condition was quite severe, but with constant prayers she is getting better day-by-day. The team of doctors currently looking after her, were recommended by the consultant that Pastor Richard took JH to see in March.  We believe and trust God to do the impossible, and miraculously heal JH.

CENTRES - There is always a move of God during the worship and prayer time at our Centres. One afternoon, the plan was to go over the previous day's lesson, but as the children started to sing and worship, the presence of God was so tangible that they started worshipping God in tongues instead of their own local dialects.  Veronica, 13-years old, said when they started singing and praising God, she "felt as if God was hugging me tight and it brought tears to my eyes".  The presence of God was so strong.  The kids were then asked to pray for any challenges they or their families are facing - they came out one after the other to pray for their exams,  the problems in their families and about the gang-related shootings in their community.  Maxwell, 14, said God gave him a word for the whole class - Psalm 119 v 9 - "How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to Your word".

We have noticed more boys joining the House of Wells Centre in Jarvis, and they are growing spiritually.  Two of those boys are Indiphile and Yibanathi who are turning out to be absolute treasures in the Kingdom of God.  They actively participate in lessons, helping to demonstrate and apply the concept of the lessons to real-world situations.  One of the teachers in the School told us that he started to notice a positive change in the behaviour of grades 6 and 7 students, especially boys.
House of Wells have started ministering to the foundation phase class at Ben Sinuka and Jarvis Centres in New Brighton.  At our Centre in Mzomtsha, we have started to assist the children with their Schoolwork, which has been greatly appreciated by their school teachers and parents. The monthly birthday celebrations at our Centres have become something to look forward to by H.O.W children.  A young girl was moved to tears when her birthday was celebrated alongside four other kids last month. She said no one had ever bought her a birthday cake or sang for her on her birthday.

Winter essentials such as sweaters, woolly hats, etc, donated by the Golden Oldies (A Fellowship of Seniors from the Harvest Christian Church Port Elizabeth), were given to H.O.W children at the end of this Quarter.

H.O.W  Zimbabwe
House of Wells Zimbabwe is running programmes in two centres in Mbizo, Kwekwe.  Our lessons this quarter included: "How to stay on the Straight and Narrow"  &  "Do miracles still happen?".  Six of our teenagers who sat their GCSEs recently passed with flying colours, and have progressed to Advanced Level at different Colleges.  Nicole obtained 3As, 5Bs, 2Cs.  Rebecca - 2As , 4Bs, 1C. Charity - 2As, 3Bs, 3Cs. Tinashe - 4 Bs, 2Cs. Tanaka - 7Bs, 1 C.  Munashe - 4Bs, 3 Cs
In addition, Vanessa who sat for her Advanced level exams got 2Bs and 1C.  This fantastic result has earned her a place at University, but she requires financial assistance in order to pay her University fees.  These teenagers were supported academically in various ways including school uniforms, shoes, food and other donations from our partners over the years.  We are truly thankful for the continuous support of H.O.W partners.

H.O.W  Uganda
We bless God for the lives of all the children that have been touched and transformed by the presence and ministry of H.O.W in Lusaze, Uganda.  As we move around the community it's hard not to be stopped by a parent or guardian tremendously appreciative for the impact that the H.O.W programme is having on the children.  On realising the need of the children at H.O.W Uganda, a member of the community has partnered with H.O.W to sponsor School fees, stationery and other necessities for Alex Alimpa, one of the children in our Centre. This sponsorship will last for the duration of his academic career.  Praise God!!

H.O.W  Kenya
Our team of Leaders/Ministers in Kenya are seeing an increase in the number of children that are coming to our Centre every week.  We hold one session on Thursdays and two on Saturdays.  The English lessons that we started in April are becoming popular with the children.  It has been so exciting to hear the children responding in English, and although they were quite shy initially, their vocabulary and confidence is growing gradually.  The month of April was quite exciting, as we also started our Library books collection.  A lot of books were donated between April and June. The joy on the faces of the children when they saw all the books was priceless!  Many more books are still needed, and we believe God for a well-stocked library.  We've also started feeding the children proper meals instead of the tea and bread that we previously served themA few people have also sponsored lunch for the children in the past few weeks by bringing Burgers and Chips to our Saturday sessions.  The teenagers also enjoyed a fun day out where they were treated to Pizza, drinks etc., at the end of the day there was an open discussion about some of the challenges they face at school, and our Leaders were able to address those issues.

H.O.W  TEENS (P.E.)  - It is always encouraging to hear from our teenagers  about the impact House of Wells programme is having on them.  Some say that they used to be mischievous and rebellious, but after they started attending House of Wells classes their lives changed.  13 year old Lushiyano said he is grateful to learn about the power of prayer and the bible at H.O.W.  Sisipho Mbithela, 14, told us that the lessons at H.O.W have been extremely beneficial to her because she now knows that she has to keep herself pure and also stay away from drugs and alcohol.  She said she wants to serve God in such a way that other teenagers will know that God is real.  It is very reassuring to know that God is working in the lives of our teenagers, and we believe that their generation will never be the same again.  We thank God that  they will always be found in the Kingdom of God and we praise God for a great and bright future for them in Jesus' name.  A teenager told us that she gained confidence and boldness for public speaking at House of Wells, by always volunteering to represent her team during group work at the Centres, and by giving presentations at the yearly H.O.W Christmas events, on behalf of the H.O.W Centre she attends.

TESTIMONIES
**13 year old Veronica from Kleinskool House of Wells informed us that 2 weeks after H.O.W  leaders visited her home and prayed for the needs of her family, her older brother who had been out of work for a few years found a job, and her granny who was ill at the time recovered and became better. All praises to God.

**Ncubeko Mcuba from the Walmer Centre** asked us to pray for his grandfather who was shot (by a stray bullet) in the township, and was in a critical condition in hospital. We prayed for him and Ncubeko informed us a month later that his grandfather has been discharged from hospital and is doing well.  House of Wells kids understand the power of prayer, they know that as a child of God they can ask God for anything and they shall receive what they asked, if they believe.

**We are winning New Brighton for Jesus!** -  During the recent Home Visits one afternoon in the Township of New Brighton, some parents/guardians wondered why we had an entourage of children following us, so we used the opportunity to tell them about H.O.W and in particular, the importance of our quarterly Home Visits.  As a result, a number of parents signed up their children to be part of H.O.W.

**Maxwell Tana 13, from our Centre in Walmer was recently baptised!  He told us that he had desired for so long to do this.

This Quarter’s HOME VISITS....The stories of some of our children
At H.O.W, it is our custom to visit the homes of H.O.W children every 3 months.  This quarter, the House of Wells Teams visited the homes of approximately 305 children.  Many of the children we visited this quarter had lost one or both parents and were living with relatives or neighbours, who themselves are struggling to make ends meet.  It is sad to hear about the great loss these kids have experienced at such a young age, and in addition to this, some of them are dealing with HIV.  All the Parents/Guardians were happy for their children to continue to attend H.O.W as they are seeing positive impact.  They were particularly pleased that we do a follow up check on their children's welfare by visiting them at home.  It is humbling to minister to families when we do Home Visits, and it is so rewarding to see how the parents/guardians appreciate the visits and the work that House of Wells is doing in their communities.  A few highlights below:-

**Kaisha, 12**  -  She and her mom live with her grandmother.  Her mum said she likes what we teach the children at H.O.W,  she said one day a shop assistant mistakenly gave her too much change and Kelly told her that they have to go back to the shop and give the excess money back because she was told at H.O.W. that God loves honest people.  She said Kelly doesn't tell lies, and she prays daily.  She said that Kelly's grades have also improved, and he achieved 7s in all her exams last term!

**Christeline and Antonio**  -  Christeline's Aunt (Antonio's mum) took her in because Christeline 's mom was always physically abusive towards her whenever she is drunk.  Her Aunt is in the process of adopting her.

**Kamvalethu**  - He is an orphan, he lives with his Uncle who told us that Kamvalethu takes home the bread and soup that we give him at H.O.W, and shares with everyone at home.

**Petrus, 10** - His Mom told us that he can't stop talking about what he is being taught at H.O.W.  She said Petrus had an operation early this year and before the doctors could operate he told them that he wanted to pray and sing to Jesus first.

**Christelle, 11** -  Christelle lives with her sister, who has 2 kids of her own. Their mother passed away three years ago.  She said Christelle always insists on them praying in the morning and before bed.

**B J, 11 and K J, 14** - They live with their grandparents.  B J was 1-year-old and K J was 4 when their mom passed away in 2009. Their Grandma is happy with the difference H.O.W has made in their lives. She also mentioned that they are HIV positive and receiving regular treatment.

**Gershwin, 12** - He lost his Mom at an early age. His grandmother who was looking after him also recently passed away.  His grandmother's friend now looks after him.

**Jason, 11 and  Jolene, 13** - They are orphans. Their mother passed away when Jason was 8 days and Jolene 2-years-old. Their grandmother raised them, and she told us that the last 5 years they've been in H.O.W has been wonderful due to the great character developments she has seen in them.

**Christiano, 12 & Kewin, 10** -  they live with their grandmother who says she is very happy that they are attending H.O.W because it keeps them away from mischief in the Township.  She thanked H.O.W for the groceries that we give to them.

**Siphesihle, 9** - She lives with her grandmother and brother.  Her mother passed away when she was eight months old and her father also died when she was very young.

** Phelo and Phelokazi**  - They live with their Dad.  They started at H.O.W shortly after their Mother passed away a year ago.  They used to be very disobedient and unruly when they started at H.O.W.  We later discovered that the reason for their bad behaviour was because they were not coping with the loss of their Mom.  However, there has been great improvement recently, which their father also corroborated.  Their Dad also mentioned that he uses the lessons they learn at H.O.W for bible studies at home.

PRAYER  REQUESTS
** Please join us to pray for Shandré, 10 who has been admitted to hospital for T.B (Tuberculosis).

** Please pray for these 2 communities in Port Elizabeth  -  New Brighton Township and the Northern Area, as there has been a rise in gang-related and drug-related attacks and crime.  A young person is killed almost every day. We have four H.O.W Centres in these two Townships.  Parents and their children live in fear every day. Churches in the area have started to come together to pray for peace and for God to take control.
