Quarterly Newsletter (January to March 2025)

         RESTORING HOPE, RELEASING POTENTIAL

Dear House of Wells PARTNERS, over 3000 children were enriched physically and spiritually this quarter, because of your partnership with us.  Many children who desperately needed educational support were also blessed by your generosity. We pray that for every seed you have sown into H.O.W, you will receive a hundred-fold harvest, in Jesus’ name.

STORIES of some of the children and young people who have benefitted from the H.O.W TUITION & SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM –

GHANA
**When Beauty (13) started attending H.O.W in February 2023, we discovered that she had been out of school for about three years because her mother could not afford the fees. H.O.W stepped in and enrolled her in school. Even though she is older than most of her classmates, she was determined to study hard. Sadly, Beauty faced another challenge when her mother’s husband began to molest her. To protect her, her mother sent her to live with a friend. Despite these hardships, 2 years on, Beauty has become vibrant and thriving in her education, with great hope for a brighter future.
**Isaac (12) was out of school for 2 years, after his father’s illness left his mother as the sole provider and she was unable to afford his school fees.  H.O.W was informed, and we enrolled Isaac in school immediately. He quickly adapted and started exceling in his studies. Returning to school brought Isaac immense joy, as he had previously felt discouraged watching his friends go to school. We thank God for the renewed sense of purpose He has given to Isaac.

PORT ELIZABETH
**Veronica, a 17-year-old, has been attending H.O.W since Grade 1. When H.O.W introduced tuition classes 2 years ago, Veronica joined immediately, and her mathematics grades gradually improved from a level 1 to 5. Her hard work and determination paid off, and she was recognized at school, earning a spot on the Wall of Success. Now in Grade 12, Veronica continues to become a source of inspiration to many.
**House of Wells teenager Keniya (18) finished High School last year.  She sent us this testimony – “My name is Keniya, I finished my Matric in 2024. The maths classes at H.O.W helped me tremendously, especially when I struggled to understand certain topics. The H.O.W. Maths teacher was incredibly supportive, patient and helped me grasp difficult concepts. Thanks for the H.O.W Tuition classes, my grades in Maths improved significantly”.
**Cassidy, (16) – joined House of Wells two years ago. Through prayers and the uplifting biblical lessons, God began to heal her from past pain and emotional wounds.  Since joining the Tuition Classes, her academic struggles, especially in Mathematics, considerably improved from level 1 to 3.
**Vinette, (16), started attending the House of Wells Community Centre in 2020. She also struggled significantly with Mathematics. However, after joining H.O.W Tuition Class, she improved tremendously in the same academic year.
**Lufezo made a remarkable improvement in her academic performance since joining the Tuition programme. Her grades soared from Level 2 to 5, and she has set a new goal this quarter by achieving a Level 6 in her exams.

CAPE TOWN
**Linomtha, (12) has been part of the Tuition program since its inception. She has shown tremendous improvement in her studies, and her school reports reflect her hard work and dedication. She has gone from a grade C → A in Science and grade E → B in History.

**Shaun and Shelly, (11), joined our academic program last year. Initially, their concentration levels were quite concerning, and their interest in academics was low.  Over time, they demonstrated tremendous improvement in their behaviour and academics, achieving As in all their subjects. Their parents have expressed deep gratitude for the transformation that H.O.W is making in their children’s education. Despite growing up in a violent environment and walking long distances to school, Shaun and Shelly have overcome these challenges and continue to strive for academic excellence.

KENYA
**Shalom, currently in Grade 9, has shown tremendous improvement in both English and Kiswahili. Her confidence has increased immensely, and she can now express herself fluently in English.
**Victor excelled in Creative Arts and English, demonstrating great performance in these subjects.
**Beth made remarkable improvement across all subjects in the last academic year.

UPDATE & TESTIMONIES FROM H.O.W CENTRES IN VARIOUS NATIONS

KENYA –
H.O.W. Mashimoni, preteens and teens are growing in their faith. A Muslim girl acted as Jesus in a skit, and a Muslim boy, Suleiman, is showing much interest in Christianity.  H.O.W. Lenana has moved to a new area, and we are seeing an increase in children attending our sessions. All H.O.W children in Kenya received free medical check-up, sponsored by Beacon Life, our partner Church in Kenya.  Our children at Centre of Hope were blessed with cakes to celebrate their birthdays in March.

MALAWI –
**323 children currently attend (207 young children & 116 teens), from 83 children in May 2024
**Parents are grateful for the meals provided, as many in Malawi face severe hunger. For some children, the food served at H.O.W is their only meal of the day. The community deeply appreciates H.O.W for restoring hope to vulnerable children.
**Spiritually, teenagers are grasping lessons well, actively participating, and even organising intercessory prayers.
**Academically many children have improved, as H.O.W leaders assist them with homework.
**Behaviourally, positive changes are evident. Some teens previously engaged in dangerous relationships have been transformed through counselling at H.O.W.

CAPE TOWN –
The House of Wells Academic Excellence Program (AEP) has opened doors to reaching children with Christ-centred lessons. There is an increased interest from schools as Principals from two other schools have engaged House of Wells regarding the AEP.  Currently enrolment for the programme has doubled, necessitating more resources. A new library initiative has been launched by H.O.W, to address literacy challenges in these schools, through collaboration with Phillipi Community Library.

PORT ELIZABETH
**Amyoli (13) – Once violent and rude, now very polite, respectful and confident of God’s love.
**Khayone (10) – Once problematic and unruly, now a caring and respectful young girl.
**H.O.W is increasingly being invited to lead assemblies at schools, raising H.O.W’s awareness.
**God provided for H.O.W to be able to feed more children this quarter.
**There is urgent need for school uniforms and shoes.

NIGERIA
The children and teenagers are growing spiritually. Some from Muslim backgrounds now prefer attending H.O.W over the mosque. A grandmother who once opposed her grand-children attending H.O.W program now encourages them to attend. Many children on the H.O.W scholarships are excelling academically. A H.O.W teenager Bamise (17), started her university education at Obafemi Awolowo University this quarter.

UGANDA –
We are now reaching over 120 children weekly at Mbogo Centre, with increasing number of children joining weekly. At Lusaze, an average of 100 children attend weekly.  At Busawula Centre, a child who had been out of school for two years miraculously returned after months of prayer!

HOME VISITS REPORTS FROM VARIOUS NATIONS :-
**Tamia, Kirwin, and Faith Jafta: These siblings, ages 3-11, enjoy attending House of Wells programs. Their grandmother, Rose, expressed gratitude for the impact the program has had on them. We prayed for Rose’s healing and for the salvation of her rebellious eldest child.
**Kayona Peter (10) lives with her granny and older sister. Their mother passed away when Kayona was in Grade 1. Granny is grateful for H.O.W, as Kayona eagerly discusses H.O.W lessons at home.
**Mbalentle (10) lives with her two grannies, as her mother disappeared years ago. They asked for prayers for her mom to return home. We prayed with them, and they accepted Jesus into their lives.
**Abraham Family: Four children in this family attend H.O.W.  They are facing accommodation challenges, and we are praying that God will give them a new home urgently. Despite the hardships, the children are growing in their faith at H.O.W. Two of the children are currently out of school, but we trust that God will make a way for them to be back in school.
