THANK YOU for your continuous support, may God bless you abundantly and continue to reward your labour of love. The lives of numerous children are being touched and transformed by God across Africa, through House of Wells, and you are a key part of that! Thank you!
SCHOOL FEES SPONSORSHIP
Lubega H is a 15 year-old student in a secondary school in Kampala. He lost his father years ago and currently lives with the mum who is HIV positive. Unfortunately his Mum is not in a position to support him due to being regularly ill and unemployed. Lubega needs urgent sponsorship so that he can go back to school. His school fees are 350,000 ugx /Term, = 1,050,000 ugx /year (£233/year).
H.O.W QUARTERLY NEWSLETTER – January to March 2022
Our lessons this quarter include topics such as “Benefits of Praise”, “A Special Relationship”, “Two Birthdays”, and many more. The children learnt how powerful it is to praise God and the beautiful results that we can expect to see when we praise God in everything regardless of circumstances.
      
UPDATE & TESTIMONIES FROM EACH REGION
HOUSE OF WELLS UGANDA
We have had a wonderful productive term in our Centres in Lusaze and Busawula, not only because of the increase in attendance but also in the way the children responded to the bible lessons. We are seeing amazing transformations in the lives of our young people aged 13 and above, as a result of the biblical life skills that they are being taught at H.O.W.
In Lusaze, 177 children and young people regularly attend every Saturday, while in our newest Centre in Busawula, 50 children attend weekly.
A Mother of five came to our Centre in Busawula with heartfelt appreciation for H.O.W. She said that she is always happy on Saturdays because she knows that her family will eat on that day, since her children will bring food home from H.O.W.
         
HOUSE OF WELLS ZIMBABWE
Instead of our usual January start after the Christmas break, H.O.W Zimbabwe re-opened on the 19th February 2022. This is due to the delays in the resumption of schools and lockdown restrictions that were in place early this year. We noticed that many children were lagging behind in their school work due to the occasional lockdown as a result of the pandemic. We have therefore incorporated tutorial classes into our normal H.O.W curriculum, so as to help the children to catch up on school work.
The children learnt the concepts of salvation and spiritual growth from our lessons titled “Two Birthdays”, “A New You” and “Growing Like Jesus”. This led to four children receiving Christ as their Saviour while 13 recommitted their lives to Him.
     
HOUSE OF WELLS NIGERIA
House of Wells Nigeria is growing in leaps and bounds. We now have 88 children on our register, from 23 children that we started with in October 2021. We had an excellent session with the children, learning the act of speaking the right words and not letting negative words proceed from their mouth.
Parents have given us various praise reports of the tremendous blessing that the H.O.W programmes have been to their community and the impact that our lessons have had on the children.
     
HOUSE OF WELLS KENYA
A second Centre opens in Kenya – We give God praise for the new Enrichment Centre that we opened in February 2022. In addition to the Lenana Centre in Nairobi, this new Centre on the premises of Centre of Hope School, in Kibera, would be a blessing to the Community. With over 60 children and teenagers at the launch, the number of children attending this new Centre keeps growing. Glory to God.
One afternoon in Kibera Centre, we noticed a girl who looked quite ill. On enquiring from the teachers, we were informed that she has sickle cell. The teachers told us that two of their students have this condition. We pray that Christ the Healer will touch Whitney and Mariannan, and make them whole in Jesus’ powerful name. The teachers also requested that we pray for a boy called Brian who would often pilfer small amounts of money from his mother’s purse and from school staff. As we continue to pray for Brian, we have no doubt that God would deliver him, in Jesus’ name.
It has been amazing to see the spiritual growth in the teenagers in both Lenana and Kibera Centres. One of our young adults, Esther, would always get to the Centre early and encourages the others to start worshipping and praying before the leaders arrive. We have also learnt that these young people not only pray for themselves, but for others, even at their schools.
  
 
HOUSE OF WELLS South Africa
Port Elizabeth
In January, we were invited to Mnqophiso primary School in Zwide, to conduct the first assembly of the year. The presence of God was so tangible on the day and many children, teachers and parents responded to the invitation for salvation. More children have since joined H.O.W and the School has given us an additional Classroom to use.
One of the children in our Zwide Centre, Sinothando, is in High School but she was recently seen still wearing her Primary School uniform to her new school, because her grandmother could not afford to buy the High School uniform. Sinothando’s father died when she was five years old, and she has since lived with her grandmother. They are surviving on the grandmother’s pension and the R350 government child support grant. Sinothando’s faith in God is strong, she told our leaders that she knows God will make a way to buy her school uniform soon. H.O.W is in the process of purchasing new sets of uniform for Sinothando.
Some of the parents who regularly accompany their children to our Centre in Mpoza, Walmer told us that the soup and bread that we give to the children is a blessing to their whole family, and not only the children. These parents said that they too wanted to be blessed by our biblical life-skills lessons and prayers, and that is the reason they always stay for the duration of our programme. House of Wells is nurturing the community both spiritually and physically, glory to God.
8-year-old Emihle, from our Walmer Centre, used to be very disruptive and verbally abusive when she started at H.O.W about a year ago. Our leaders have started to see an amazing transformation in Emihle. Her mother also noticed tremendous change and told us during a home visit, that when Emihle’s siblings tried to provoke her so that she could react like she used to, she will tell them that she does not do those things anymore, because at House of Wells she has learnt that those things are wrong, and she no longer wanted to do the things that God does not like. Emihle’s Mum also told us that the food that Emihle and her siblings bring home from H.O.W is what they all have for dinner.
      
   
Another School has opened its doors to H.O.W. In early March, we started our programmes at John Masiza Primary School in Walmer, Port Elizabeth. 190 children attend every Monday and Tuesday. It has been a great start and we are experiencing favour from the teachers and other school staff.
   
CAPE TOWN
In Cape Town, House of Wells now exists in four schools and two Community Centres. We have about 200 children and teenagers attending these six Centres. The two new Centres, Waterteka and Liwa Primary Schools gave H.O.W a warm welcome and the classes were packed with children on the first day.
Our two Teenagers Groups are growing in leaps and bounds. The teenagers are very eager to learn and would come with their notes and pens. Their dedication and commitment to H.O.W programmes is very commendable. We have started a WhatsApp group for their parents, in order to keep them informed of our programme and of their children’s progress. The parents gladly welcomed this initiative.
Our team in Cape Town have been able to find schools for two of our teenagers whose parents have been struggling to register them in school. Nontsikelelo’s parents left her school application a bit late and most schools no longer had space by the time they tried to find a secondary school for her. In Ofentse’s case, his Mum had decided that he would not go to school this year, because she does not have internet facility in order to do her son’s registration online. One of our leaders contacted a teacher who was very helpful and assisted in getting both Nontsikelelo and Ofentse into High School this term. The two families were very grateful to House of Wells.
     
H.O.W. TEENAGERS
It has been 14 years since H.O.W was founded, and some of the children who attended H.O.W in its early years are now young adults. One of them is Ayanda Katoo. From the age of 12 she was the one looking after her five siblings when her mother was nowhere to be found. It has been a long journey with Ayanda as H.O.W supported her and her five siblings throughout their school years, with monthly groceries, uniforms, medical assistance, and much more. Ayanda always ensured that her siblings attended H.O.W regularly, and she herself never missed Teenagers classes. A few years ago, we arranged counselling for her mother and assisted in getting her a job. Ayanda is now a 24-year-old young woman faithfully serving the Lord. She is an active member in her home church, a Church that has become her family. It is great to see Ayanda thriving.
During our lesson on Praise, one of our teenagers, J H said that she will forever praise God for her healing. She was very poorly 3 years ago and was in hospital for weeks fighting for her life, but God came through for her. Her story featured in our Q1 and Q2 2019 Newsletters, and in the Q1 2020 Newsletter.
Another teenager, Xenia Williams was selected as deputy Head Girl at her school. She was told it was not just because she is brilliant academically, but that she has a Christ-like and noble character.
